TikTok, the app for short videos, deleted more than 10.4 million videos in Pakistan because they didn’t follow the rules during the second quarter of 2023.
In a statement, the officials said they are dedicated to stopping fake information and making the platform safe for everyone. They pointed out that most of the videos breaking the rules in Pakistan (83.6%) were removed before anyone saw them, and nearly all of them (92.5%) were gone within a day.
TikTok removing accounts
They also talked about taking action to protect young users. They removed almost 18.8 million accounts that seemed to belong to people under 13 years old.
In total, during the second quarter of this year, TikTok removed about 106.5 million videos worldwide, which is about 0.7% of all the videos on TikTok. Most of these removals (66.4 million videos) were done by automated systems, but some (6.7 million videos) were restored after being checked.
TikTok wants to keep its community safe and friendly for everyone, and their rules apply to all users and all kinds of content. They use technology and people to find and take down content that breaks the rules.
By releasing reports like this one, they wants to show how much content they remove and how they keep their platform safe and fair.
