The Pakistan hockey team achieved their second victory in the Asian Games by defeating Bangladesh.

In Lahore, the Pakistan hockey team clinched their second victory in the Asian Games 2023, held in Hangzhou, China, as they defeated Bangladesh on Tuesday.

During their second pool match against Bangladesh, the Pakistan hockey team faced an early setback when Bangladesh took the lead at the 19-minute mark by capitalizing on a penalty corner. However, Pakistan managed to level the score at 1-1, thanks to Afraz, who played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s eventual 5-2 triumph over Bangladesh.

The Men in Green capitalized on their comeback with consecutive goals, with Shahzeb Khan and Mohammad Imad finding the net in the 40th and 43rd minutes, respectively.

Bangladesh put up a strong fight to narrow the gap, securing their second goal at the 46-minute mark. Nonetheless, Pakistan’s lead was solidified when Sufyan Khan delivered a powerful flick from a penalty corner, extending the score to 4-2.

The decisive blow came from Pakistan’s drag flick specialist, Arbaz Ahmed, who executed a flawless drag flick to score the fifth goal for the Men in Green.

The Green Shirts are scheduled to face Uzbekistan on September 28 in their upcoming match.

In their opening match, Pakistan hockey team had an impressive victory over Singapore with a score of 11-0. During the match, Pakistan’s Ammad, Arshad Liaquat, and Arbaz Ahmad each scored two goals. Additionally, Mohammad Shahzaib Khan, Abdul Waheed Rana, Zikriya Hayat, Afraz, and Abdul Rehman contributed one goal each.

The Asian Games 2023 features 12 hockey teams divided into two groups of six. Pakistan, along with India, Japan, Bangladesh, Singapore, and Uzbekistan, is placed in Pool A, while Pool B comprises Korea, Malaysia, China, Oman, Thailand, and Indonesia.
