Following the demise of Chief Minister Azam Khan, the authority transitioned to the Governor, as stated by the former Secretary of the Election Commission, Kanwar Dilshad. In the absence of the provincial assembly, the determination of the caretaker chief minister will be entrusted to the senate.
Kanwar Dilshad explained that a six-member committee, comprising three government and three opposition members, will be established to propose the caretaker chief minister. The ex-Secretary of the Election Commission further highlighted that, as per Article 224 of the Constitution, a decision must be reached within a week, and during this period, the governor will oversee the province.
