Siraj-ul-Haq stepped down from his leadership position in Jamaat-e-Islami because the party didn’t do well in the general elections.

The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, Siraj ul Haq, resigned from his position because the party didn’t do well in the general elections.

In a statement, Siraj-ul-Haq mentioned that despite his efforts, he couldn’t achieve the success he aimed for in the elections.

The spokesperson of Jamaat-e-Islami stated that the Secretary General, Amir-ul-Azeem, has called for a meeting on February 17 in Mansurah.

In this meeting, the situation following Siraj-ul-Haq’s resignation will be discussed.

The Election Commission of Jamaat-e-Islami announced three names for selecting the new leader: Siraj-ul-Haq, Liaquat Baloch, and Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.

All stages of the election for the new leader will be completed by March 31, 2024, and the results will be announced by President Election Commission Rashid Naseem in April.

The spokesperson emphasized that according to the constitution, Jamaat-e-Islami holds regular elections at all levels, with the election for the leader held every five years as per the constitution.
