In San Francisco, USA, 127,000 people participated in the Khalistan Referendum, expressing their right to vote for a separate homeland for Sikhs. The polling station at Jim Ghafir saw thousands of Sikhs gathering, and the voting continued for 8 hours.
Reports from American media indicate that even after the official voting time ended, around 30,000 Sikhs remained in line to cast their votes. Many Sikhs arrived, displaying Khalistan flags, and Sikh leader Gurptunat Singh received special security measures from US authorities for voting in the referendum.
Sikh leaders emphasized their demand for a separate homeland, expressing a desire to be free from Indian rule due to perceived challenges and violence faced by Sikhs in India.
Bakshish Singh Sindhu, co-founder of Sikhs for Justice, expressed happiness seeing thousands of Sikhs coming together for independence, freedom, and the establishment of Khalistan, seeking relief from what they view as India’s unjust occupation of Punjab.
He highlighted that the gathered Sikhs are united in their demand for freedom from what they perceive as the illegal control of Punjab by India.
