Senior journalist Imran Riaz Khan has finally reappeared unharmed at his residence, following an inexplicable disappearance that lasted for a grueling period of more than four months. This noteworthy development was confirmed by District Police Officer Sialkot, Hassan Iqbal.
The journalist’s ordeal began shortly after the nationwide demonstrations that erupted on May 9, following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Imran Riaz Khan was apprehended just two days after these protests began and subsequently taken into custody, relocating from Cantt. Police Station to Sialkot prison.
High Court decision on Imran Riaz Khan
However, on May 15, the Lahore High Court was informed that Imran had been released from incarceration after providing a written commitment. Despite this legal release, his whereabouts remained unknown, causing immense distress.
In a persistent quest to locate Imran Riaz Khan, the Lahore High Court granted the Punjab police chief a final opportunity on September 20, urging him to secure Imran’s return by September 26.
In a social media announcement, the Sialkot police declared, “Journalist and anchor Mr. Imran Riaz Khan has been safely reunited with his family.”
Imran Riaz Khan’s attorney, overwhelmed with emotion, shared his thoughts on the situation, stating, “Through the grace, mercy, and special blessings of God, I have successfully brought my prince back.” He also highlighted the numerous challenges faced during this protracted journey, including legal hurdles and a sense of helplessness.
Nonetheless, he concluded by expressing profound gratitude for this momentous day.
