Lahore: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has been chosen as the party’s pick for the position of Prime Minister in the upcoming general elections set for February 8, according to The News.
This decision was made during a meeting of the PPP’s top decision-making group, the Central Executive Committee (CEC), held at Bilawal House in Lahore on Wednesday. The gathering focused on planning the party’s campaign for the upcoming general election.
Bilawal is running for election in NA-127 Lahore, where he’ll be up against PML-N’s Shaista Pervaiz Malik and a PTI-supported candidate.
During the CEC meeting, they talked about the party’s election plans, focusing on empowering youth and women, creating jobs, improving health and education.
They fully trust Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership.
Key PPP figures attended the meeting, including Taj Haider, Khursheed Shah, Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Murad Ali Shah, Chaudhry Aslam Gill, and Ali Badr.
Bilawal, joined by Taj Haider and former PM Yusuf Raza Gilani, told the media he’s running in Lahore no matter what. He criticized PML-N and PTI, calling them representatives of the ruling elite who haven’t solved the country’s problems. PPP, he said, always presents its vision before polls, prioritizing the people.
Bilawal pledged to establish energy parks in every district, provide free electricity up to 300 units, offer free and quality education, increase employee wages by 200%, and expand the BISP network.
He thanked the PPP CEC for nominating him for the prime minister position.
Bilawal condemned terrorism in the country, emphasizing the need for crucial decisions to overcome crises.
