The Punjab government has released the schedule for schools winter vacations in both public and private sections throughout the province.
Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, disclosed that the winter break for school children is set to start on December 18, 2023, and extend until January 1, 2024.
Naqvi also conveyed the decision to lift any restrictions for the upcoming weekend due to an improved Air Quality Index (AQI). In a statement on the microblogging site X, he mentioned, “We had a meeting today with experts and government officials addressing the SMOG challenge in Punjab.
With an enhanced Air Quality Index (AQI), no restrictions are planned for the upcoming weekend. Additionally, winter vacations for children will commence from Dec 18, 2023, to Jan 1, 2024,” as stated on his official microblogging site handle.

Earlier today, the Sindh government also released the winter vacation schedule for both public and private educational institutions across the province. As per a notification issued by the Sindh School, Education, and Literacy Department, educational institutions in the province will be on winter vacation from December 22 to 31.
“In adherence to decisions made in the steering committee meeting, all public and private educational institutions under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department Government of Sindh will remain closed from 22-12-2023 to 31-12-2023 for Winter Vacation.”
Following the winter break, educational institutions will resume on Friday, January 1, 2024. Meanwhile, the new academic year in public and private schools across Sindh is scheduled to begin on April 15, 2024, and in colleges on August 1, 2024.
Matriculation and intermediate exams are planned to commence in the last week of May 2024, with results expected to be announced on July 31 and the second week of August, respectively.
