The National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad reports that a lot of people in Pakistan are getting sick because of the flu. They mention that a specific type of flu called influenza A subtype H3N2 is causing illness, while the rate of Covid-19 cases in the country is less than one percent.
The NIH officials state that numerous cases of flu are being reported every week from all parts of Pakistan. They explain that respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is causing colds, flu, and fever in children.
Influenza can be particularly risky for older individuals and those with weakened immune systems. Health experts advise that there is currently no influenza vaccine available in Pakistan. To prevent getting the flu, they recommend using a mask and washing hands frequently. Additionally, they caution against using antibiotics for the flu.
