Karachi gas supply to experience a suspension today.

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Wednesday that Karachi gas supply disruptions would occur in various parts of the city due to the damage of a gas pipeline in Bath Island and Clifton.

The company reported that a 16-inch diameter gas pipeline in Bath Island, Clifton, had experienced damage or rupture, leading to a reduction or cessation of gas pressure in the affected pipeline.

As a consequence, SSGC had to implement measures to address the situation, affecting several localities around the Clifton area that rely on this specific pipeline for gas supply.

The announcement regarding the gas supply disruption was made through the official account of the gas supply company, where they detailed the incident and the steps taken to mitigate the impact on the affected areas.

The company has announced that gas supply will be impacted in various blocks and phases spanning Clifton, Gizri, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Punjab Colony, Delhi Colony, Old City area, Mai Kolachi, Bath Island, Sultanabad, Ziauddin Hospital, Dolmen Mall, Movenpick, Mariott, PC hotels, and surrounding areas.

According to the company, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) teams are currently on-site to conduct maintenance work, aiming to complete it by tomorrow morning to restore gas supply at the earliest.

During the repair period, residents in the mentioned areas are expected to experience issues with their gas supply, as stated by the company.

It is worth noting that the SSGC had previously announced its intention to suspend gas supply to certain parts of Karachi. In a statement, the gas supply company explained that on December 24 (Sunday), it would undertake a crucial gas distribution infrastructure development task. This undertaking would result in the suspension of gas to specific areas.

Further details provided by the company specified that, for a duration of 13 hours, gas supply would be suspended in both industrial and residential areas of Korangi from 9 am to 8 pm. Simultaneously, parts of the Defence Housing Authority, a prominent area in the city, would also experience a 13-hour suspension of gas supply.
