A new type of coronavirus, called JN1, has been confirmed in two passengers at Karachi Airport.
Airport health officials reported that two passengers arriving from other countries showed symptoms of the new Covid variant. Both passengers have been advised to stay at home for quarantine after testing positive for the new variant, JN1. One passenger came from Jeddah, and the other arrived from Kuala Lumpur.
In response to concerns about the new Covid variant, testing began at Karachi Airport the previous day. Around 22 passengers were tested using rapid diagnostic kits for Covid.
The National Institute of Health issued an advisory on January 2, emphasizing that testing aims to prevent the entry of new coronavirus variants into Pakistan.
