Pakistan government is expected to lower the Hajj cost in 2024.

To facilitate a more affordable and convenient Hajj amidst challenging inflation, the interim federal government is poised to implement a reduction in the Hajj cost for the 2024 pilgrimage, as disclosed by Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Aneeq Ahmed.

During a dinner reception organized by the Pakistan Business Group Organization (PBGO) Punjab Chapter, Ahmed indicated that the new Hajj cost policy is anticipated to be announced by Wednesday (November 15). He underscored the consistent adherence to the Hajj Policy since 2004, emphasizing the importance of respecting and implementing the directives of the Saudi government both in letter and spirit.

Highlighting a significant achievement, Aneeq revealed that the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage would incur a reduced cost, now amounting to less than Rs1,075,000, in comparison to the previous pilgrimage, which had expenses of Rs1,175,000. He assured that pilgrims would enjoy maximum convenience and comfort during this Hajj season, with various facilities, including an affordable internet data package with a private network SIM available throughout their 45-day stay in the Kingdom.

To address the constraints faced by some pilgrims, the ministry introduced a short-term Hajj program spanning approximately 20 days, recognizing that certain individuals are unable to stay for more than 40 days due to personal and professional commitments.

Aneeq shared positive news for prospective pilgrims paying their Hajj dues in dollars, stating that they would be exempt from the balloting process. This exemption aims to streamline the Hajj process effectively.

He highlighted that each pilgrim would receive a suitcase equipped with a QR code, ensuring the secure tracking of both their luggage and themselves throughout the entire Hajj operation. In conclusion, he outlined the ministry’s initiative to maintain discipline among female pilgrims by providing a scarf (hijab) adorned with the national flag on their back.
