The government of Pakistan has made an important decision concerning Afghan refugees.
Reports suggest that the federal cabinet has given approval to extend the stay of around 1.3 million illegal immigrants. The extension of the residence card validity was approved based on a proposal from the Ministry of Safran, allowing Afghan refugees to stay in Pakistan until March 2024.
Initially, the cabinet division had raised objections to the Safran Ministry’s proposal. However, following the advice of the Afghanistan-related coordination cell, it was decided to grant an extension to the stay of illegal immigrants.
Sources indicate that Pakistan has agreed to this extension in response to a request from the Afghan government.
