For the very first time, a transgender woman has been chosen as the winner of the Miss Portugal beauty contest.

Reports from foreign news sources tell us that Marina Machete, a 28-year-old who works as an air hostess, won the Miss Portugal beauty pageant.

According to the news, Miss Portugal Marina Machete will now compete in the Miss Universe competition in El Salvador, where she’ll be up against another transgender contestant.

Marina Machete, who is Miss Portugal, expressed her happiness on social media when she found out she was a finalist before eventually being crowned.

It’s worth mentioning that just this July, a 22-year-old transgender woman also won the title of Miss Netherlands.
