Famous Irish actor Sir Michael Gambon who acted as Albus Dumbledore has passed away at 82 years old.
Michael Gambon became well-known all around the world for his role as Professor Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies.
He portrayed the wise headmaster of a magical school in six out of the eight films in the series. Initially, the character was played by Richard Harris in the first two movies before Michael Gambon took over after Richard Harris’s passing.
Michael Gambon was born in Dublin, Ireland, and started his acting career at the Royal National Theater in London.
He had an impressive career spanning five decades, during which he excelled in television, film, theater, and radio, earning four BAFTA Awards.
His family confirmed his passing, citing pneumonia as the cause. He had been hospitalized due to pneumonia and passed away there.
In addition to his iconic role in the Harry Potter series, he is also recognized for portraying detective Jules Maigret in a television series.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the acting profession, he was knighted in 1998 and became Sir Michael Gambon.
