Twitter, a popular social media platform, has decided to charge a one-dollar annual as Twitter fees from new users who join the platform.
According to reports, Twitter has introduced a new program in specific countries where new users are required to pay a yearly Twitter fees of one dollar when creating a new Twitter account. This program is called ‘Not a Bot’ and is currently active in New Zealand and the Philippines. Once it’s rolled out globally, all new Twitter users will need to pay this one-dollar subscription fee to post (tweet) on the platform and connect with other users. Existing Twitter users won’t be affected by this fee.
The primary goal of the one-dollar subscription fee is to reduce the presence of automated bot accounts on Twitter and limit their activities. Twitter has stated that the intention behind this program is not profit-driven.
Users who subscribe to the ‘Not a Bot’ program but later decide to unsubscribe will still be able to read posts from other users on the platform and view content, including videos.
Twitter plans to share the results of this program in the near future. However, users are concerned about whether it will effectively eliminate bot accounts from the platform.
Additionally, Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, hinted last month that the company might introduce Twitter fees for all users, although this decision is still in the testing phase and has not been implemented on a large scale yet.
