The upcoming Apple iPhone 16 Pro series is set to include a tetraprism camera system.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has verified that the forthcoming Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will incorporate upgraded tetraprism Telephoto lens, featuring an impressive 5x optical zoom.

Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro, which lacked this technology due to spatial constraints and production hurdles, the iPhone 16 Pro series aims to overcome these limitations.

To address previous challenges, the new iPhones will increase their screen size to 6.3 inches, allowing for more room to accommodate the advanced camera hardware.

Furthermore, the production yield for the tetraprism lens has notably improved, escalating from 40% in 2023 to an admirable 70% or higher.

This enhancement in manufacturing efficiency, combined with the expanded size of the iPhone 16 Pro, ensures the incorporation of the tetraprism lens, a feature previously confined to the Pro Max variant.

While details about potential upgrades to the lens in 2024 remain uncertain, there are speculations about Apple exploring a “super telephoto camera” with an extended focal length.
