Starting March 2024, Thailand and China declared that they will no longer require visas for travel between the two countries.

Thailand and China declared that starting from March 2024, they will no longer require visas for travel between their countries.

As per reports from foreign media, Thai Prime Minister Sritha Thavisin stated that both Thailand and China have decided to permanently eliminate visa requirements for each other’s citizens starting March.

Thailand had removed visa requirements for Chinese citizens back in September to encourage more tourists to visit. Officials reported that over 22,000 Chinese nationals entered Thailand in the initial two days of the visa waiver.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sritha expressed readiness to open up the countries and extend mutual care to tourists, considering it as positive news. He emphasized that this move would strengthen the relationship between Thailand and China and enhance the value of the Thai passport.

In November, the Tourism Authority of Thailand mentioned its expectation of welcoming 3.5 million Chinese tourists throughout 2023, slightly below the target of 4 million.
