The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has detained two individuals involved in extorting money from citizens under the guise of facilitating funds transfer out of the country.
As per the FIA spokesperson, the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi conducted an operation resulting in the arrest of two suspects, Saifullah and Zahoor Ahmed, who illicitly obtained 51 lakh rupees by falsely claiming to aid in repatriation. The apprehension took place in Golra Mor, Islamabad.
The authorities revealed that the accused coerced money from victims by promising them employment opportunities in Greece, collecting passports from citizens without proper authorization.
During the operation, numerous passports and three counterfeit visa stickers for Greece were seized from the suspects. Additionally, three mobile phones and 5 lakh rupees were recovered from their possession.
The spokesperson added that both arrested individuals hail from the Gujarat district of Punjab.
