Within 24 days, a total of 11,597 children in Punjab have been affected by pneumonia, with Lahore alone recording 251 cases in the last 24 hours. The Health Department indicates that there have been 220 pneumonia-related deaths in Punjab within the same timeframe.
Dr. Mukhtar, the vaccine director, highlighted the current pneumonia outbreak in Punjab. He emphasized the importance of the pneumonia vaccine, which provides protection against a specific type of pneumonia from a month and a half after birth.
Dr. Mukhtar clarified that the pneumonia vaccine may not be effective against the current viral spread. Although there is an ample supply of pneumonia vaccines for protection, there is only one vaccine available for both children and adults. He also mentioned that the pneumonia vaccine is not accessible in the general market, and obtaining it from abroad requires government permission.
