The process of sending back Afghans residing illegally in various cities of the country is ongoing. Recently, hundreds more Afghans have returned. According to official records, on January 22, a total of 756 Afghans left, including 214 men, 178 women, and 364 children. These repatriated Afghan citizens, comprising 104 families in 84 vehicles, have been sent back to Afghanistan.
Even before Pakistan officially announced this initiative, a significant number of illegal Afghan residents had already been returning to Afghanistan to avoid potential arrest. However, based on official data, a total of 473,556 Afghans have returned to the country thus far.
It’s worth noting that, similar to the rest of the country, there was a considerable population of people living illegally in Karachi. Illegal activities like smuggling and extortion were prevalent due to the presence of undocumented foreigners. The positive aspect is that the government of Pakistan, in collaboration with military leadership, is actively working to evacuate illegal individuals from the country.
