During a press briefing on Monday, State Department Spokesperson Mathew Miller said, “We’ve always valued our partnership with Pakistan. We believe a strong and democratic Pakistan is important for both countries. Our cooperation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his team will focus on advancing these shared interests.”
These remarks came shortly after Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in as the 24th Prime Minister of Pakistan at the President’s House in Islamabad. President Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath, with several dignitaries present, including Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir.

Miller mentioned that her selection is a significant moment in Pakistani politics and expressed the US’s willingness to work with Pakistan to promote women’s participation in various aspects of society.
