The country’s electricity prices has increased by 4 rupees and 56 paisa per unit. The National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued a notice to clarify the reasons behind this hike.
The escalation is attributed to the December fuel price adjustment, resulting in an additional financial burden of 39 billion 80 crore rupees on electricity consumers.
As stated by NEPRA, consumers will observe the extra charges reflected in their February bills. However, the price hike will not impact K Electric and Lifeline consumers.
It’s noteworthy that during the November fuel price adjustment, electricity prices increased by 4 rupees and 13 paise per unit.
