The social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, is starting to offer audio and video X calls calling to a select group of users. Elon Musk, who is the Chief Technology Officer and owner of the platform, made this announcement.
Musk explained in a post on the platform how to turn on this new feature. He called it an “early release of video and audio calling on X.”
This is part of Musk’s efforts to change and improve the platform since he took over almost a year ago. He rebranded Twitter as X and has been talking about turning it into a super-app that offers various services, like messaging, social networking, and peer-to-peer payments.
Back in August, Musk mentioned that users wouldn’t need a phone number to use these features, and they would work on Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, and personal computers.
To turn off this X calls:
When you open X, some users will see a message saying, “Audio and Video calls are here!” This message also explains how to set up call settings, which you can find in the Direct Messages section.
If you don’t want to receive X calls, you can go to your Direct Messages and find the Settings menu, which looks like a gear icon. There, you can turn off the calling feature. But if you want to keep it, there’s an option to receive calls from verified users, your contacts, or people you follow.
