Months after experiencing its first solar eclipse 2023 in May, which was also categorized as a hybrid solar eclipse, the world is gearing up for the third and final solar eclipse this year, set to occur on October 14th and 15th.
An “annular solar eclipse” takes place when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, positioned at or near its farthest point from our planet. In this type of eclipse, the sun’s face is not completely obscured, unlike in a total solar eclipse.
Eclipses are relatively infrequent occurrences due to the moon’s non-alignment with the exact plane of the sun and Earth, as explained by NASA.
Solar Eclipse 2023 in Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also confirmed the upcoming celestial event, mentioning that the eclipse will commence during the night and conclude just after midnight on October 15th, following Pakistan Standard Time (PST). It is worth noting that this eclipse will not be visible from Pakistan.
The various phases of the solar eclipse 2023 are as follows:
- The eclipse’s commencement is scheduled for 20:04 PST on October 14th.
- The total eclipse will be observed at 21:10 PST on October 14th.
- The eclipse will reach its peak at 22:59 PST on October 14th.
- The eclipse will conclude at 00:49 PST on October 15th.
According to NASA, the solar eclipse 2023 in the United States will commence at 9:13 am Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) or 12:13 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on October 14th in Oregon. The eclipse’s path will traverse multiple U.S. states, including California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
Continuing into Mexico, the eclipse will be visible in parts of the Yucatán Peninsula in southwestern Mexico and several Central American countries, such as Belize, Honduras, and Panama. While the maximum sun obscuration will occur along this path, a significant portion of the Americas will still be treated to a captivating celestial display.
The statement from the PMD further elaborated that the solar eclipse 2023 will then “sweep across central Colombia and a large portion of northern Brazil before concluding its journey in the Atlantic Ocean, just off Natal, Brazil.”
The next total solar eclipse that Earth will witness is scheduled for April 8, 2024, and it has been dubbed “The Great North American Eclipse.” This event will be visible throughout North and Central America, as reported by Space.com.
