Gas prices are expected to increase by more than 100 percent.

Gas price for regular folks are going up a lot, maybe more than twice as much starting this month.

The government is planning to raise gas prices by different amounts for various users. For example, prices could go up by 129 percent for some regular households, 136 percent for businesses, 71 percent for companies that sell things overseas, 117 percent for local industries, and 144 percent for CNG. These changes have been approved.

Now, for most regular customers like those who run bakeries and tandoor ovens, and also the Engro fertilizer plant, the gas prices won’t change until October 1. But, there’s a fixed fee for certain customers, like those who use up to 600 mmBtu. This fee is going up from Rs. 460 to Rs. 1000. For customers who use up to 3100 mmBtu.

About 57 percent of regular customers won’t see an increase in their gas bills, but there’s a plan to raise the fixed monthly charge from Rs. 10 to Rs. 400.

It’s important to know that gas, electricity, and fuel prices have been going up for a while now, following the International Monetary Fund’s terms. This has made life tougher for regular people.
