Dorothy Hoffner, who was 104 year Chicago lady passed away in her sleep. She became really famous because she did something extraordinary – she went skydiving even at her old age, and it might have been a world record! She took this thrilling jump from an airplane that was 13,500 feet above the ground.

Dorothy’s friend, Joe Conant, who was also a nurse, affectionately called her “Grandma.” He spoke about how full of energy she was and how she never let her age stop her from enjoying the things she loved. She didn’t take afternoon naps or miss any events or dinners; she was always active and engaged.

Just ten days before the 104 year Chicago lady passed away, Dorothy made history by doing a tandem skydive. This means she leaped out of an airplane while attached to an expert skydiver. This incredible event took place at Skydive Chicago in Illinois.

She did this to show that age should never be a barrier to what someone can achieve in life. Dorothy believed that your age is determined by how young you feel.
