Namira Salim, the first astronaut from Pakistan to go to space, has finished her special trip on Virgin Galactic’s VSS Unity spacecraft. She celebrated being the ‘FIRST Pakistani Astronaut’ and the ‘First Female Virgin Galactic Founder Astronaut’ with pride.
Before going to space, she was very proud to represent Pakistan by taking the national flag with her.
Namira Salim Mission
Namira Salim was on the Galactic 04 mission, where she traveled with three other people who love space.
The space trip got delayed for a bit to make sure everything was safe. This also gave three paying customers the chance to experience space travel, even though it was a short trip.
While they were up there, they got to float around for a few minutes and see the Earth’s curve against the space background.
The plane that took them up, called VMS Eve, was flown by Jameel Janjua, a Canadian who has Pakistani roots and knows a lot about flying.
People often wonder how much Namira Salim paid for her ticket to space. She got one of the first 100 tickets with Virgin Galactic back in 2006, and the price of her ticket has gone up to $450,000 since then.
Besides going to space, Namira Salim started a non-profit group called Space Trust. She’s also explored the North and South Poles, which makes her famous for traveling to extreme places on Earth and in space.
