The Islamabad High Court (IHC) made a clear order to the police on Tuesday, telling them to stop bothering candidates and workers who belong to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party.

This decision came after PTI nominees Shoaib Shaheen and Ali Bukhari Advocate filed a petition, complaining about unfair treatment in politics.

During the court session, Shaheen expressed worries about police tactics, like pressuring PTI supporters to join other parties and threatening those who organize PTI events.

Ali Bukhari Advocate also talked about the difficulties faced by PTI campaigners, mentioning intimidation of polling agents and disruptions to campaign activities.

The Election Commission assured the court that they had addressed all complaints and ordered the Islamabad Police Chief to investigate.

However, when the Chief Justice asked the SSP Operations of Islamabad Police about the complaints, he said only two out of 112 candidates had complained. The Chief Justice didn’t seem convinced and questioned if those were the only complaints.

The SSP Operations insisted that all parties were treated fairly, but the Chief Justice seemed skeptical and asked, “Really?”

As a result, the Islamabad High Court ordered the police to stop harassing PTI candidates and workers, stressing the importance of maintaining trust in the election process.

The court emphasized that law enforcement has a duty to ensure fair and transparent elections, without intimidation or undue influence.
