In Lahore, the Election Tribunal said no to Imran Khan’s request to reconsider the rejection of his nomination papers for NA-122. However, Yasmin Rashid got the green light to participate in the election.
Judge Justice Tariq Nadeem from the Lahore High Court Election Tribunal oversaw the appeals against the ARO’s decisions. The Election Commission’s lawyer argued that Imran Khan was disqualified and his supporter had no connection to NA-122. The (N) League’s lawyer also opposed Khan’s appeal.
The Tribunal judge dismissed Imran Khan’s appeal and upheld the RO’s decision.
On a different note, the Appellate Tribunal granted approval for Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the former Punjab Health Minister, to run in the election. Judge Justice Tariq Nadeem heard the appeal against the RO’s decision to reject Yasmin Rashid’s nomination papers. The Election Tribunal canceled the RO’s rejection, allowing Yasmin Rashid to contest the election with her appeal now accepted for NA-130.
