Cipher Case Update: The Islamabad High Court has paused the proceedings until January 11th.

The Islamabad High Court has put a pause on the ongoing trial of the cipher case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan until January 11.

In a recent hearing, the Islamabad High Court addressed a plea against the indictment in the cipher case of Imran Khan, who is the founding chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf. Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb ordered a halt to the ongoing trial until January 11. Imran Khan challenged the trial court’s decision from December 12.

The court not only granted the request to stop the trial but also issued a notice to the federal government regarding the petition against the trial court’s December 12 order. The court asked for all necessary documents to be submitted at the next hearing. Additionally, notices were issued for the petition against the action taken based on the FIR, instead of the complaint.

Earlier this month, the trial court indicted Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister and party leader, in the cipher case. The charges were brought against them during a hearing in Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi denied the allegations.
