American Sikhs againts Modi.
Following a significant visit to India by a senior official from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), activists supporting Khalistan staged a large-scale march on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. They chanted slogans such as “FBI, FBI – You Are Right – Modi Is Behind Murder Plots.” The demonstration involved over 1,000 vehicles carrying Khalistan flags and “Wanted” banners featuring images of “Modi-Jaishankar-Sandhu,” causing congestion on Interstate I-80 to Highway 101 leading to the bridge.
The Sikhs participating in the march stated that they gathered to express support for ongoing American and Canadian investigations into alleged assassination plans against pro-Khalistan Sikhs in India. The rally was organized by Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), the group behind the Khalistan Referendum voting campaign.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the General Counsel of SFJ, mentioned the upcoming American phase of the Khalistan Referendum, scheduled to commence on January 28, 2024, in San Francisco. Despite perceived threats, Pannun affirmed that Sikh sovereignists would persist in their campaign to liberate Punjab from Indian occupation through the Referendum.
Pannun asserted that Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, cannot evade accountability forever, expressing determination to pursue legal actions against him under international law for alleged crimes against pro-Khalistan Sikhs, Kashmiri Muslims, and Christians in Manipur.
The SFJ founder and Khalistan Referendum spokesman referred to the recent indictment of Nikhil Gupta and other Indian state officials by US authorities, framing it as charges against Narendra Modi. Pannun claimed direct involvement of Modi in planning an assassination attempt against him and emphasized the indictment against Gupta as an accusation against Modi.
In a notable development on November 29, the US announced murder-for-hire charges against Indian national Gupta, accusing him of participating in a thwarted plot to assassinate Pannun. The US Attorney, Damian Williams, highlighted the commitment to investigate, thwart, and prosecute any efforts to harm and silence Americans, while Assistant Attorney General Matthew O Olsen underscored the pursuit of accountability for threats originating from overseas. DEA Administrator Anne Milgram recognized the DEA’s role in preventing the alleged plot and commended law enforcement partners for their assistance.
